About The Great Barrier Reef
The Great Barrier Reef, superstar of the Underwater World. Australia's Great Barrier Reef is the largest living eco -system in the world. The reef encompasses 351,000 sq km (135,000 sq miles) - an area the size of Italy and the sea is so clear that the reef can be seen from space satellites.
It is a Marine Park of deep canyons comprising massive mountains of coral and teeming colourful fish of all sizes. Sea turtles, giant clams, sea anemones, spiny lobsters, shrimp, squid live among the 2,900 separate reefs that forms its topography. The reef waters is home to 1,500 species of fish, 400 kinds of corals, and 4,000 species of molluscs.

Travelers on vacation are transferred by coach from Cairns and resort hotels en route to the departure pier of Port Douglas. The voyage to the outer reef is on a high-speed vacation Catamaran.
