AUSTRALIAN RURAL TOWNS & FARMLANDS TOUR
The day tour departs Melbourne a travelling through the scenic, rural countryside and small towns that were first settled in 1835. With the discovery of gold in 1851 hundreds of thousands of immigrants came to live in this area.
Businesses developed and flourished with the riches of the gold miners and the so did the farmers who also enjoyed their new wealth from the sales largely of wool and wheat.
The tour visits the City of Ballarat with its many grand public Victorian buildings Avenues and gardens.

At noon the tour reaches the Great Ocean Road and traditional Aussie barbecue lunch will be served at a private property. Your visit is warmly hosted by the property owner who has many stories to tell of life in her local rural community.
From the dining room visitors enjoy views of green undulating pastures to the Great Southern Ocean and beach that borders the property. The pastures are home to over forty ‘resident’ kangaroos that graze there and on the lawns of the garden terrace.

After lunch visitors enjoy a stroll to the nearby beach cove that is part of a Marine National Park or visit the forest of Iron Barks and walk on an Aboriginal Heritage trail with information plaques by Aboriginal Elders describing the Indigenous history.
